Smokey and the Bandit is a 1977 American action comedy film starring Burt ReynoldsSally FieldJackie Gleasonand Jerry Reed. The film marks the directorial debut of stuntman Hal Needham. The film follows Bo “Bandit” Darville (Reynolds) and Cledus “Snowman” Snow (Reed), two truck-driving bootleggers attempting to illegally transport 400 cases of Coors beer from Texarkana to Atlanta. While the Snowman drives the truck carrying the beer, the Bandit drives blocker, in a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am, to distract law enforcement and keep the attention off the Snowman. During their run, they are pursued byTexas Sheriff Buford T. Justice. The poster artist Maciej Zbikowski (b. 1935) was a graphic designer, poster artist and illustrator. He studied between 1953-1956 at the State Higher School of Fine Arts (now Academy of Fine Arts) in Wroclaw, between 1956-1957 at the Higher School of Arts and Crafts in Prague, and graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under Professor Henryk Tomaszewski in 1960. He produced graphics for publishing, posters, satirical drawing, and animation. Zbikowski performed work for magazines including “Szpilki”, “Poland”, Poland”, “Pardon” (Germany), for MON and Czytelnik publishing houses and created more than 160 film posters between 1965 and 1980.
