Vintage Polish Poster | Tomasz Szulecki

Medea is a tragedy by Euripides, based on the myth of Jason and Meda, first performed in 431 BC. The action focuses on the actions of Medea, the barbarian wife of Jason. Her position in the Greek world becomes threatened when Jason abandons her for the Greek princess of Corinth. Medea takes revenge on Jason by killing his new wife and her children with him. Then he runs away to Athens to start a new life. In the 20th century, feminists became interested in the tragedy because it sympathetically depicts Medea’s struggle to control her own life in a male-dominated world. In the 20th century, it was also the most frequently performed Greek tragedy. The poster artist Tomasz Szulecki was born in 1953. There is no biographical information available on him at this time.
