Sacco & Vanzetti is a 1971 docudrama film written and directed by Giuliano Montaldo, based on the events surrounding the trial and execution of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, two anarchists of Italian origin, who were sentenced to death for murdering a guard and a paymaster during the April 15, 1920, armed robbery of the Slater and Morrill Shoe Company in Braintree, Massachusetts. The film was an Italian and French co-production, shot on-location in Dublin, Ireland. It was released in separate Italian and English-language versions. The artist for this poster, Jerzy Flisak, worked as a poster designer, book illustrator, stage designer and a satirical cartoonist. Born in 1930 in Warsaw, he graduated from the Architecture School at Warsaw Polytechnic. Flisak was published by many magazines in Poland and abroad. For example, he contributed to ‘Szpilki’ magazine for many years and worked there as an art director. He won many awards over his career, such as the International Art Directors Club Exhibition in 1962, the Ministry of Culture award for his achievements in satire, the Chairman of the Ministers’ Council award, the Szpilki award seven times, and several awards in various competitions organized by the Museum of Caricature in Warsaw.
