The 1981 Polish Contemporary Arts Festival in Wroclaw, Poland, was a significant cultural event that brought together various forms of contemporary Polish art, including visual arts, theater, music, and literature. This festival served as a platform for artists to showcase their work and express their creativity during a period marked by political unrest and the rise of the Solidarity movement. It highlighted the resilience and innovation of Polish artists amidst challenging times. The poster artist Jan Aleksiun (b. 1940) is a Polish graphic designer, painter, specializing in posters and drawings. Between 1959–1966 he studied at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wrocław . He obtained his diploma in the Graphics Studio of professor Stanisław Dawski. After graduating, he worked for three years at Zakłady Elektroniczne “Elwro” as a graphic designer. Later he was an academic teacher associated with the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wrocław and its second rector from 1980-82. Between the years 1999–2005 he was the dean of the Faculty of Graphics . He focuses on drawing, painting, posters and graphics.  Aleksiun has taken part in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad and won awards in the fields of poster, graphics and drawing, including the award by the Minister of Culture and Art in 1994.
