Vintage Polish Posters | Goethe | Wieslaw Walkulski

This original, first run 1991 print in mint condition is by Polish artist Wieslaw Walkulski. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was a German poet, playwright, novelist, scientist. statesman, director and critic. His works include plays, poetry, and literature. He is widely regarded as the greatest and most influential writer in the German language and his work has had a profound and wide-ranging influence on Western literary, political and philosophical thought from the late 18th century to the present day. The artist Wieslaw Walkulski was born in Poland in 1956 and still works there today. He started his graphic design education at the  Warsaw Academy of Art from 1976 to 1981. He studied under several design lecturers including Maciej Urbaniec. At the end of his studies he was employed by Polfilm and Film Polski to produce artwork and cover designs. During this period he also worked with visual studio publishers and numerous theatre groups producing artwork for productions. In 1987 he commenced his career as a freelance graphic designer. Today, Walkuski has more than 200 posters to his name and he continues his work as a poster designer, illustrator and painter. His works have been presented at major Polish and international poster exhibitions including at The Weidman Gallery in West Hollywood, USA.
