40 Carats is a 1973 American romantic comedy film directed by Milton Katselas. It is based on the 1968 play of the same name by Jay Presson AllenThe film stars Liv UllmannEdward AlbertGene KellyBinnie Barnes (in her final film role), Deborah RaffinNancy Walker, and Natalie Schafer. Ullman was nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Motion Picture Actress, Musical or Comedy, and the Writers Guild of America nominated Gershe’s screenplay for Best Comedy Adapted from Another Medium. This colorful, bright, vintage Polish poster was created by Polish poster artist Jerzy Flisak (1930-2008). This is an original 1985, first run print celebrating children´s art. Jerzy Flisak was well known for his cartoonish and fun style, as well as his light use of color, creative typography, and applied stylistic and historical references. He used various techniques in his posters including painting, photography, and cut-out materials. He specialized in film posters that were satirical in nature. In 1961 Flisak received an award from the Polish Minister of Culture and Art, and in 1985 an award from the Prime Minister of Poland. In 1962 he received an award from the New York Art Directors Club for the film poster, “Blood Feud”. Flisak’s works have been exhibited throughout Europe, United States, Middle East, and Canada.
